The Operating Engineers Local 49 Health & Welfare Fund is once again proud to partner with Health Gauge to provide annual health screenings to eligible participants at NO COST to plan participants. To keep up with demand, we’re adding August screening dates at several locations. Screenings at additional locations will be scheduled again in the winter/spring.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE:
- Active plan participants and their spouses
- Pre-Medicare retired participants and their spouses
- Medicare retired participants (BCBS)
Eligible participants may screen ONCE per calendar year. These screenings do not replace your annual preventive exam with your physician, which continues to be covered by the Health Fund each year.
WHEN SCREENINGS ARE SCHEDULED:
- August 2026: Please refer to the enclosed flyer for specific dates, times and locations. Appointments are required. Your screenings will be completed in under an hour.
- IMPORTANT: Fasting is OPTIONAL and is NOT required for participation.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
When you arrive at your appointment, you will be greeted and checked in by a Health Gauge staff member. Your confidential health screening will include:
- Biometrics, such as resting pulse, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure.
- Non-invasive ultrasound screenings to identify the amount of blood vessel blockage in the neck, abdomen and legs, which correlates to risk of stroke and other cardiovascular conditions.
- A comprehensive blood draw that informs you of diabetes risk, evaluates the body’s major organ functions, and provides a full cholesterol profile.
STARTING IN AUGUST 2026 – NEW TESTS ADDED:
- Testosterone screening for male participants
- Women’s hormone health screening (DHEA) for female participants

Your ultrasound results will be reviewed with you during your appointment. Bloodwork and biometric reporting will become available via secure online portal within 10-14 business days.
