Supplemental Life/ AD&D Coverage
If you’re an active member of Local 49 in good standing, you already have $10,000 of life insurance at no charge to you. You can purchase up to $350,000 in additional coverage at group rates through the Midwest Coalition of Labor.
Sign up during the open enrollment period to have access to coverage without medical questions or exam. Members may also purchase accident coverage and critical illness insurance.

Short-Term Disability Coverage
In addition, active members can purchase short-term disability coverage at an affordable rate. Receive $250 or $500 per week of tax-free income in the event that you become sick or injured on or off the job. If you sign up during the open enrollment period, there are no medical questions asked and you cannot be denied coverage.
During the first 12 months of coverage, benefits cannot be paid for pre-existing conditions – an injury or sickness for which the member has been treated in the three months preceding the effective date of coverage.
