“I am very pleased to announce that both the Minnesota House and Senate have now passed an infrastructure bonding bill that will invest close to $2 billion in projects across our state. The Governor has indicated he will sign the bill into law in the coming days. This is a significant victory for our jobs, our union and the state of Minnesota. There is more than $700 million in direct investment in road and bridge work in this bill. There is also more than $200 for the construction of waste-water treatment facilities along with many, many other good projects.
We needed this bill. The global pandemic has created economic uncertainty for next year, and this bill eliminates a lot of that uncertainty for our work in Minnesota. I want to thank Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, House Speaker Melissa Hortman, Senate Minority Leader Susan Kent, and Republican Bonding Lead Dean Urdahl for their leadership. I also want to especially thank Bonding Chairs Senator Dave Senjem and Representative Mary Murphy, they refused to let this bill die and it would not have passed without their persistence.
I’m extremely proud that a bi-partisan group of people came together to get this done. It gives me hope that we can continue to build on this kind of compromise and cooperation for the future. Our voices were heard. Common sense prevailed. And our approach of working with both sides of the aisle to try to make our jobs non-political has been validated by this victory.”
