Former Local 49 Officer, Kyle Jones, Has Passed Away

Business Manager Jason George shared the following thoughts on the unexpected passing of retired Local 49 Officer Kyle Jones:

We here at Local 49 were devastated to learn of the unexpected passing of our brother Kyle Jones. Kyle was a mentor to me personally, and was an extremely positive and supportive influence for many of our current and former staff. Kyle went out of his way to help young members, support them, and give them some wisdom. Quite frankly, we need more of that in our union and our country right now.

Kyle worked in the field for Peavy (Red Rocks) before becoming a business agent in 1994. Kyle served as an Executive Board member from 2002-2003 and then became an officer holding the position of Recording Corresponding Secretary from 2003-2015. He also served as a long standing Trustee on the Health and Welfare Fund and came back on a part time basis to help our new Shop business agents get up to speed after I was elected.

There was nothing Kyle wouldn’t do for his friends, his family, and his union brothers and sisters. Our great union was built on the shoulders of leaders like Kyle Jones, and we will forever be grateful.

On behalf of more than 14,300 proud and strong Local 49 members, and the entire Local 49 and Local 12 staff, we express our sincere and deepest condolences to Kyle’s wife Ann and the Jones family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We will miss you Chief…….Rest in Peace.
