Local 49 is proud to offer membership benefits through the National Coalition of Labor (formerly Midwest Coalition of Labor) that are available to all active, dues-paying Local 49 members in good standing, including a death benefit, life insurance options, roadside assistance and more.
Active, dues-paying members get $10,000 of free life insurance, and $2,500 of accidental death and dismemberment coverage. You become eligible on day one of Local 49 membership, and there is no additional cost and no need to enroll.
During the annual open enrollment period, you can also purchase additional life insurance without a physical exam and purchase short-term disability insurance at a discounted group rate. The open enrollment period typically begins in October.
