What does HSM mean to me?

Health Systems Management (HSM) is the "patient advocacy" component of IUOE Local 49's innovative health care for our members and their families. As a self-insurer, it's critical that we provide timely, quality care at an affordable price, and that we get it right the first time.

Dr. Buss convinced that the approach the Operating Engineers have developed in partnership with Health Systems Management is the best model for delivering quality, timely care at a reasonable price by rewarding good behavior and outcomes.  HSM ensures 49ers are offered the best practices by relying on data-driven evaluations, identifying those "at risk" early on for treatable conditions, and making sure they're talking to the right specialists and consultants to make the best decisions.

Local 49's objective is to offer an excellent, confidential resource for patients and families that are confronted with serious health issues. We're committed to providing help and information on diagnosis and other treatment options.
