The Operating Engineers Local 49 Health and Welfare Fund is a self funded multi-employer health plan with approximately 36,000 participants. The Fund is overseen by a board of trustees made up of both Labor and Management. The Central Pension Fund is the pension fund established to provide retirement to members of International Union of Operating Engineers. Plan benefits are based upon annual employer contributions for participants which are reported to CPF from employer locations. The Helmets to Hardhats program connects National Guard, Reserve, and former military personnel with quality career training and employment opportunities within the construction industry.Candidates can access information about careers and apprenticeships via the Internet from anywhere in the world. The Helmets to Hardhats profile they complete helps communicate to hiring managers the transferable skills they acquired during their military service.
Employers can also take advantage of Helmets to Hardhats. After establishing an account, employers can search and identify highly qualified veterans in the Helmets to Hardhats database.
The program is administered by the Center for Military Recruitment, Assessment, and Veterans Employment and headquartered in Washington, D.C.
